At four o'clock, the kettle goes on. It does not matter what we are doing: the tray comes out, the cups are lined up, and everyone gets to choose the tea, even the four-year-old.
The children are allowed one biscuit and one story about their day. The adults are allowed to sit down. Fifteen minutes later, everyone goes back to what they were doing, a little softer.
Rituals do not need to be grand. They need to be regular.
