The Friday ritual that holds our week together

A long table, a slow lunch and a board game nobody is allowed to win too quickly.

Every Friday, whatever the week has been like, we sit down for a long lunch. Crêpes if someone has the energy, bread and soup if not. Phones go in a bowl by the door.

After lunch comes the board game. The rule is simple: nobody gets up until the game is over, even when it goes on far too long. Especially then.

The ritual is not about the food or the game. It is about having one fixed point in a week that moves too fast, one appointment nobody cancels.
