Why slow mornings matter more than plans

The best days of our trips all started the same way: with nowhere to be before ten.

Look back at your favorite days and you may notice a pattern. They rarely began with an alarm, a list and a taxi. They began slowly: coffee, a book, a window, the day arriving on its own terms.

The hour that sets the tone

The first hour shapes the rest. Rush it, and the whole day feels like catching up. Give it room, and even a busy afternoon feels manageable.

What a slow morning looks like

  • No phone until the coffee is finished.
  • One thing for yourself: ten pages, a short walk, a stretch.
  • Breakfast at the table, even if it is only bread and jam.

On busy days

Some mornings cannot be slow. On those days, steal five minutes: one cup drunk sitting down, one look out of the window. It counts more than you think.
